The design process

Consultation

This first visit is an opportunity for me to meet you and see your garden.

We’ll take some time to discuss your wish list for the space, as well as your likes and dislikes. We’ll discuss your budget and timescales and I will talk you through the whole design and build process.

There’s no charge for this initial meeting and afterwards I will send you a quote for the design work we have discussed, along with my terms and conditions.

Brief

Once we have decided to work together, I will spend time developing a detailed design brief. We will look at how you would like to use the space, what features you require, as well as your style, colour and planting preferences.

Survey

I will also arrange to carry out an in-person survey and site analysis.

The survey is a key part of the process so if the garden is large or complex I may recommend the use of a specialised company. This information will then be used to create a scaled drawing of your garden, showing the location of the house, levels, boundaries, existing paved areas, trees, and the position of services such as pipes and drainage.

Design

To help you visualise your finished garden, I will prepare an initial concept plan and mood boards to show how the different elements will all fit together.

Once we have settled on the final design, I will draw up presentation plans with full details of all the various design components which will to bring the overall vision to life.

If required, I will also create a detailed planting plan showing the quantity and location of each plant.

Build

Having prepared the detailed specification for building your new garden, I can then make recommendations of accredited landscapers that I have worked with to obtain quotations for the construction. I can also project monitor the build to ensure that all the design details are created as intended.

Once your new garden has been built, I can organise all of the planting for you, if you do not wish to do this yourself.
